Ruan you can enter as a "day" rider but will have to then get the required MSA license. Have a look at the westerncapeoffroad.co.za website and also here... STARTING OUT – OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLES & QUADS // JUNIOR OFF-ROAD RACING • All motorsport in South Africa is governed by Motorsport South Africa referred to as MSA throughout this document and which has many functions. • Before you enter into any MSA motorsport event in South Africa you need to obtain a competition licence. • MSA is the licencing authority for competition licences and application has to be made via them. • MSA has a very informative website – www.motorsport.co.za – where the forms that you will need to apply for a licence can be downloaded. Ensure that you join a club (e.g. Western Cape Offroad Club (WCOC)) before applying for your licence. There are three types of licences that you can apply for: 1. Club licence : This licence is a restricted licence that allows you to compete in club events. You will also be allowed to participate at National events with a club licence in the Silver Class Challenge. 2. Regional licence : This licence is also a restricted licence and allows you to compete in club and regional championship events although you can only score points in the regional championship in the region in which you reside (confirm the rules with other regions). You cannot compete in national championship events with a regional licence, other than in non-championship classes, such as Clubman / Novice Classes or the Silver Class Challenge. 3. National licence : This licence allows you to compete in any event in South Africa as well as Lesotho and Swaziland which fall under MSA. In order to obtain a national licence, you need to be at least 14 years of age (to compete in the High School Class Championship) or seven years of age (Junior National Championship). When acquiring a licence, you will also need to have medical insurance. This is currently compulsive as you cannot obtain a licence without medical cover. You only need ONE Non-Circuit licence to compete in either off-road, enduro or motocross events. Online licence application : https://www.msaonline.co.za/ Once you have obtained your licence, you can obtain your race number from MSA. Phone Carmen Lee-Hill on 011 675 2220.
